HR Coordinator

Gateway Truck & Refrigeration, a Carrier Refrigeration, Volvo, and Hino truck dealer with multiple locations in Illinois and Missouri, is in search of an HR Coordinator for our Collinsville, IL location.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare and process payroll for weekly, bi-weekly, commission and bonus payments
• Prepare and provide payroll reports as needed
• Assist managers and supervisors with recruiting and selecting new hires
• Provide pre-employment processing and new hire onboarding
• Create/review new hire packets and provide information to managers and supervisors
• Process incoming new hire paperwork ensuring all new hires are set up for payroll and work process needs
• Maintain employee files and the HR filing system
• Process termination paperwork including COBRA notices and 401k distribution paperwork
• Input final payroll data for terminating employees
• Provide ongoing employee maintenance updates to records regarding changes
• DOT driver qualification and medical files
• Respond on behalf of GTR to various benchmarking surveys that provide comparisons of our employee processes, rates and benefits offered
• Maintain performance review schedule and remind managers and supervisors of upcoming review schedules or rate changes
• Maintain and provide information regarding PTO balances as needed
• Participate in internal and external surveys to provide GTR with competitive data and feedback
• Other reasonably related duties as assigned

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to handle sensitive employee issues and information and to maintain high level confidentiality
• Payroll processing experience
• Introductory-level state and federal employment law knowledge
• Provide excellent internal and external assistance to employees
• Effective interpersonal skills and problem solving ability
• Strong Microsoft Office skills
• Strong verbal/written communication skills
• Ability to follow directions and exercise good judgment
• Ability to cooperate, work, and communicate with management team, employees, and outside contacts and customers to achieve common goals
• Ability to handle stress under pressure
• Good planning and organizational skills
• A commitment to great customer service.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration or similar field of study
• 0-2 years of experience
• A desire to continue learning

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

• Sitting at desk 90 percent of the work day

• Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word
• Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels
• Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work.
• Working under fluorescent lighting, viewing computer screen, sitting at desk in office chair
• Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, and exhaust fumes.
